Teshika is a creative with over 12 years of wide-range professional art experience. Illustration is her passion, using both traditional media as well as digital programs to create pieces that are both captivating and magical. She is also an intuitive graphic designer, working with local organizations and small business owners alike: be it by logo design, promotional pieces or other marketing collateral. She is currently a teaching artist at Hyde Park Art Center where she works closely with youth. She strives to create work that uplifts, heals and promotes the resilience of marginalized people.

Professional Experience​

Freelance Illustrator & Designer, Self-Employed

December 2012 — present

Worked with various clients on a wide range of work including logos, branding and website design. Tasks included research, color theory/concepting, sketching, layout, font layout/creation and final delivery of the project. Most recent clients include Illinois Caucus for Adolescent Health, Chicago Food Policy Action Council, the Chicago Park District, the PrEP 4 Love Campaign and the International Chicago Underground Queer Transcendance Symposium (ICUQTS).

 

Signmaker/Store Artist, Whole Foods Market Northbrook

July 2011 — December 2012

Maintenance and creation of all store regular and weekly sale signage as per brand standards. Work closely with Store Team Leader, Associate Store Team Leaders and Marketers/Specialists to create additional signage for events, promotions, demos and monthly calendar. Create chalkboards and other forms of point-of-purchase displays for departments. Train new members of teams in sign requesting as necessary.

 

Graphic Designer - Print, WHSP Consumer Care, Inc. / Kameli & Associates, LLC

September 2006 — March 2008

Creation of various projects for adjacent law firm including corporate identity, brochures, ads,

web layout/interface concepting and design. Heavy involvement in large-scale trade show on a wide variety of collateral, including but not limited to: overall design of booth, pamphlets, banners, business cards, and logo placement.
